Worship.  Study.  Silence.  Reflection. [repeat].  Right now I am in Burlingame, CA (in south San Francisco) at the Mercy Center teaching at my first Spiritual Academy.  It has been many years since I first heard of this program that offers clergy and lay persons immersion experiences into deepening spirituality.  The rhythm of the day is grace-full and the community is grace-filled.  One of the greatest pleasures is to be on the faculty with Dr. Glenn Hinson, an historian and biblical scholar from the Southern Baptist tradition who has spent his life and work challenging the fundamentalist views of that denomination and engaging in ecumenical dialogue.  Dr. Hinson became friends with Thomas Merton when he began taking seminary students to Gethsemani monastery, starting in the early 1960’s.  It has been wonderful to hear him talk about these experiences and it makes me so grateful to have had similar immersion experiences at Assumption Abbey in south Missouri with Fr. Paul Jones. Tomorrow I get to talk with the group about the beautiful rhythms of daily prayer.  This comes after two days of a romp through worship history and then steeping in the journey of the liturgical year.  Yummy stuff.  So, fellow sojourners, here are the notes on the liturgical year that I promised you. Download.  Enjoy.  Worship.  Study.  Be silent.  Reflect [repeat].  And thanks for letting me walk with you for a while.Download Notes on the Liturgical YearDownload Notes from Marcia’s lectures at the Spiritual Academy
