Conference “Season”
It is the end of another “conference season” for me. This year started earlier and ended earlier because of General Conference. I did fewer annual conferences simply because of the work of GC so here it is June 9 and I’m headed home tomorrow to the mountains. It was a wild ride, my friends. There were achingly beautiful and sacred worship moments amidst some frustrations and sadness about the state of the church. There were poignant goodbyes in Louisiana and Nebraska as Bishops who have been instrumental in my ministry retired. To help create their rites of passage was such an honor. It was full of amazing fleeting connections with so many people who expressed their gratitude for deeply soulful worship and I was blessed a million times by those encounters. I was surrounded by extraordinary musicians and artists whose spirit and collaboration made my soul sing. From the diversity of an international setting to the lovely contexts of southern and mid-west hospitality, I am continually awed at the opportunities I have to worship with the people of God.
You can see more about GC at the “Behind the Scenes at General Conference Worship” Facebook page. There are lots of pictures and interviews with the amazing team that are inspirational and educational. Nebraska folks, I’ve attached the scripts and notes as promised.
